Software and Embedded Control Specialist - Pooles Corner, PEI

Responsible for the efficient production of high-quality software and embedded solutions, and related internal and end-user documentation. Projects can vary in size and scope such as to require working independently or in moderately sized structured teams. The position is additionally responsible for ensuring that projects are well defined, designed and constructed in accordance with the agreed scope, budget, and schedule while providing a high level of customer service.
 

Experience & Educational Requirements:

  • Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in the development ARM based devices;
  • Experience in fieldbus/protocol implementation in various SoC platforms.
  • Experience in the design, development, programming, troubleshooting, debugging and documentation for Windows desktop and web applications as well as web services.
  • Experience in one or more of the following development environments: Eclipse, MS Visual Studio, Borland C++ Builder
  • Experience using Git for software version control or similar tools

    Elcetrical Engineer in Training (EIT) - Pooles Corner, PEI

     
    As part of AKA’s electrical engineering team, the Electrical Engineer in Training (EIT) will participate in the design, development, implementation and documentation of marine and onshore power systems. The EIT will participate in ensuring projects are well defined and administered in accordance with the agreed scope, budget and schedule, while providing high levels of customer service.  This position requires specialist knowledge, and a high level of education in the field of electrical engineering or an associated discipline.

    Experience & Educational Requirements:

    • Degree in Engineering or a related field, or a combination of education and experience suitable to the position.
    • Experience in the design, development and implementation of electrical power systems and/or control and automation systems.
    • Field experience in industrial automation and control systems, or systems engineering is considered an asset.

    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Other:

    • Proven analytical, problem solving and decision making skills.
    • Ability to analyze complex systems engineering and automation problems and devise innovative engineering solutions.
    • Ability to work effectively within a team environment and across multiple project teams.

    Mechanical Engineer In Training (EIT) - Poole's Corner, PEI

    As a part of AKA’s mechanical engineering team, the successful candidate will participate in preparation of mechanical engineering design, development of mechanical systems and structures, in-depth analysis of new and existing hardware, implementation and documentation for mechanical section of company projects, and coordination work efforts with other disciplines as well as clients.
     
    The successful candidate will participate in ensuring projects are well defined and administered in accordance with the agreed scope, budget and schedule, while providing high levels of customer service.  This position requires special knowledge and a high level of education in the field of mechanical engineering or associated disciplines.

    Experience & Educational Requirements:

    • Degree in Engineering or a related field, or a combination of education and experience suitable to the position.
    • Experience in the design, development and implementation of mechanical systems and/or associated systems.
    • Field experience in industrial mechanical systems and structures, or systems engineering is considered an asset.

    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Other:

    • Solid understanding of engineering process and terminology
    • Proven analytical, problem solving and decision making skills.
    • Ability to analyze complex systems engineering problems and devise innovative engineering solutions.

    Graphic Designer & Production Assistant - Owen Sound, Ontario

    Reporting to the Marketing Manager in Owen Sound, ON, the Graphic Designer & Production Assistant will be responsible for the planning, organization, concept development, of product design of multiple internal and external client projects.  The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring design projects are well defined and administered in accordance with the agreed scope, budget and schedule while providing a high level of customer service.
    Experience & Educational Requirements:
    • Preference will be given to candidates with a Diploma in Graphic Design, Animation, Advertising Art or equivalent combination of training and experience suitable to the position
    • A minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in the graphic design field
    • Experience in marketing is considered an asset

    Electrical & Mechanical Engineering Student Placements - Poole's Corner, Prince Edward Island

    Engineering Students with AKA have the opportunity to work with our Engineers and Technologists on a range of current projects involving the design, manufacture, testing and commissioning of high-tech systems.  As well as gaining valuable experience in these areas, Students are expected to make a positive contribution to current projects and become a valued member of the team. 
     
    During a typical work term with AKA, you might expect to find yourself working in R&D, system design, product development, documentation, manufacturing and/or testing.  However, opportunities also exist for candidates interested in the fields of Electronics, Automation, Control and Software Development. 
     
    The positions are especially suited to Students interested in a career in the design, manufacture, commissioning and support of innovative electrical systems.
