Jason Aspin MarEng 
SENIOR SYSTEMS ENGINEER
 
Jason is a graduate of the Canadian Coast Guard College Marine Engineering program. He worked through the ranks of the Coast Guard from Watchkeeping Engineer to Chief Engineer and served in several positions in the private sector, including Marine Superintendent for a tug and barge company in the Great Lakes. He has also worked as an instructor in a formal training environment within the Canadian marine college system. Much of his career has focused on systems engineering and integration, technical troubleshooting and specialized engineering tools development.
 
Neale Kemp MScEd 
SENIOR APPLICATIONS SPECIALIST

Neale has worked in the printing and publishing industries for over 20 years in the roles of graphic design, training and management. He graduated from Curtin University (Australia), completing a Master’s degree in Science Education developing optimum formats for self-instructional training materials. He has been closely involved in the implementation and management of sophisticated electronic publishing technologies as well as the development of multimedia training materials.
Paul Jamer MarEng 
VICE PRESIDENT TECHNICAL & PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT

Paul brings to AKA more than 20 years of experience in the Marine industry. A graduate of the Canadian Coast Guard College’s Marine Engineering program, Paul gained seagoing experience in all engineering capacities, up to and including Chief Engineer. In possession of a First Class Marine Engineering Certificate, he has extensive shore-based experience as a project manager and engineering superintendent. Over the past 10 years, Paul has developed considerable expertise in condition monitoring and predictive maintenance techniques. During that time he has been involved in the design, development, implementation, and testing of integrated maintenance management systems and software. Paul has also been successful in marketing engineering products and services to both marine and shore-based industry.
Alan Woodford PEng 
TECHNICAL DOCUMENTATION SPECIALIST/PROJECT ENGINEER

Alan brings many years of experience in the education and engineering fields. Before joining AKA he worked as an instructor, engineering coordinator and head of the Great Lakes International Marine Training Centre – Georgian College. Prior to his training career, Alan worked for 12 years as an engineer in the Canadian and UK aerospace industry. Application areas included undersea manipulators, underwater acoustic platforms, helicopter gas turbines and various spacecraft projects. His other endeavours include the design and marketing of engineering simulation tools.
Phil Brindle
PROJECT ENGINEER

Phil brings many years of experience as an industrial electrician and developer of PLC, SCADA and PC applications. He has experience with a wide variety of hardware and software platforms in industry, with strong skills in database development.
Phil has designed, developed and commissioned several new and retrofitted PLC control systems. Additionally he has developed a database utility designed to manage maintenance activities for a multi-trades workforce including logging all service calls, maintenance logs, messaging, etc. He has also developed and successfully implemented a database application used to bind civic numbers to map and direction data for emergency and other services sectors.
Emily Bi BSc
DRAFTING SPECIALIST

Emily has over 6 years experience as an electrical designer and drafter working on large-scale industrial and commercial engineering projects in both China and in Canada. She is an expert in the use of AutoCAD 14, 2000, 2002 and 2004, and in the application of AKA’s Drawing Management System (DMS). She uses this knowledge and these engineering tools to support AKA’s engineering team in the production of cabinet and switchboard arrangement drawings, single line drawings, schematics, cable schedules, parts lists, etc. Emily has a Bachelors of Science degree in Industrial Automation.
Scott Pitton 
DOCUMENTATION TECHNICIAN 

Scott comes to us with over five years experience as a Computer Trainer/Site Manager at an Owen Sound career college. Scott brings with him a background of computer knowledge and instructional expertise. His flexible portfolio along with his superb organizational skills qualify him for the integral role he plays in the development of AKA’s documentation products.
Christina Cuomo DipAcct
ACCOUNTING OFFICER

Christina graduated from Mohawk College with a Diploma in Business Accounting and brings considerable skill and knowledge in bookkeeping and accounting principles to her administrative role with AKA.
