Partnership combines Canadian engineering expertise and global technology leadership to support marine, naval, and industrial energy projects

Montague, PE – July 6, 2026 — AKA Energy Systems (AKA) and ABB Canada are pleased to announce a new strategic partnership that expands their collaboration in delivering advanced power, propulsion, and energy solutions for marine, naval, and industrial applications across Canada.

The partnership formalizes a growing relationship built on successful project collaboration and a shared commitment to increasing Canadian capability in critical infrastructure, marine technology, and energy systems. By combining ABB’s world-class electrification, automation, and drive technologies with AKA’s expertise in systems integration, engineering, and project execution, the two organizations are positioned to deliver high-value solutions with strong Canadian content. AKA has been officially recognized as an ABB Value Provider (AVP) — System Integrator, a rigorous authorization demonstrating full training, auditing, and capability to design, integrate, and support ABB Motion drives solutions.

“At a time when Canada is increasingly focused on domestic industrial capability and resilient supply chains, this partnership represents an important step forward,” said Martin Simic, Director of Strategic Development at AKA Energy Systems. “Together, AKA and ABB can offer customers integrated Canadian solutions that go beyond a traditional supplier relationship. By aligning our strengths, we are creating new opportunities to support marine, naval, and land-based infrastructure projects with greater local expertise and execution capability.”

The collaboration will focus on marine propulsion systems, power conversion technologies, industrial power systems, and grid-support applications. By leveraging AKA’s proven engineering expertise and ABB’s factory-backed Motion drives technology, customers benefit from integrated solutions delivered by teams with proven experience in some of the world’s most demanding operating environments. The partnership also creates opportunities to support major national initiatives, including future marine and naval programs, where Canadian content, local expertise, and long-term lifecycle support are increasingly important considerations.

“ABB is excited to strengthen our relationship with AKA Energy Systems and build on the successful projects we have already delivered together,” said Ryan Clancy, National Sales Director for Distribution, ABB, Motion Drive Products. “AKA’s deep engineering expertise and strong presence in the marine and energy sectors make them an ideal partner. Together, we can help customers access innovative technologies while benefiting from local Canadian support and integration capabilities.”

The announcement comes as both organizations continue to expand their presence in key growth markets. In the marine sector, AKA and ABB see significant opportunities to support vessel electrification, hybrid propulsion, energy storage integration, and next-generation power systems. In the industrial sector, the companies are collaborating on projects involving advanced power infrastructure, energy transition initiatives, and grid-stabilization technologies, including synchronous condenser applications.

The partnership reflects a shared vision of delivering reliable, efficient, and sustainable solutions that help Canadian industries modernize their operations while strengthening domestic engineering and manufacturing ecosystems.

As the relationship evolves, AKA and ABB intend to explore additional opportunities for joint project development, technology integration, customer engagement, and industry outreach across Canada.
