Aspin Kemp & Associates Inc. (AKA) has secured a contract from China’s Wuhu Shipyard to supply the DC-Link system including shaft generators and batteries for McAsphalt Marine Transportation’s new green vessel delivering in Q3 2023.

With an overall length of 140 meters, molded width of 23.75 meters and depth of 11.7 meters, the vessel will be used to support the company’s asphalt trades throughout the Canadian Great Lakes, St Lawrence and Atlantic coastal regions. The DC-Link system with batteries will allow to reduce fuel consumption, reduce emissions and allow for excellent reliability.

Counting over 90 years of total vessel running time with battery-hybrid propulsions and a continual stream of innovative power equipment deliveries around the world, AKA is honored to have been selected for this project. “This project is perfectly aligned with the three pillars upon which AKA was founded: reliability, fuel efficiency and reduced carbon footprint,” said Jason Aspin – CEO and founder of Aspin Kemp & Associates.
