Since the publication of our last statement on AKA’s precautionary measures on March 11, 2020, the situation within Canada and globally has continued to escalate. AKA wants to reaffirm that the safety of our staff and stakeholders and our commitment to delivering on our obligations to our customers during this time remain the highest priority for our business. While we are continuing our efforts to deliver our active projects on time, we may experience potential disruption to our supply chain and, in general, the movement of goods and services worldwide. We are doing everything possible to minimize this impact.

Effective March 23, 2020, AKA is implementing additional precautionary measures to protect its staff, stakeholders and the continuity of our business. AKA facilities are now closed to unscheduled visitors. The only visitor(s) who will be considered are those who are deemed critical to business or to the safety of our people. Access to the facilities will be through a management approved schedule and only after a thorough risk assessment and approval of the proposed visitor(s) by the AKA HSE manager. Non-AKA personnel who have a requirement to visit an AKA facility and meet the critical to business or safety criteria should call their AKA contact so the approval process can be initiated. AKA’s shipping and receiving teams have also initiated additional precautions.

AKA has implemented social distancing measures promoting home working where possible to reduce the number of personnel in our facilities. A strict segregated zone working model has been introduced physically segregating portions of our manufacturing facilities at Pooles Corner and Stratford, PEI. Online field service support is being carried out as normal through project and service contacts and the 24/7 phone line. Field support resources are available where deployment is possible on a case by case basis and following a detailed risk analysis process for each customer request.

Please utilize the contact form on our website, staff emails, or the AKA phone number (1-902-620-4882), to get in touch with any of our staff as needed. Although some staff members are working from home, phone messages will reach them through their inbox.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and will update our website once these restrictions are lifted. The understanding and support of all our staff, stakeholders, and customers during this difficult time is highly appreciated as we deal with this unprecedented situation. We will be following Health Canada and Health PEI’s recommendations in this rapidly changing environment. Together we will get through this challenging time!
