On April 20th, 2022 the brand new TT-Line Green Ship “Nils Holgersson” arrived in its home port at Travemünde, Germany for the first time. Alongside our partners at MAN Energy Solutions, AKA provided the dual-fuel, diesel-mechanical propulsion package. The now completed vessel offers 239 modern and comfortable cabins in various categories for around 800 passengers. With a length of 230 metres, our Nils Holgersson is the longest ship in the TT-Line fleet.

AKA’s main scope of supply included the propulsion AC switchboards, distribution transformers, electric bow thruster motors and PTO shaft generators, bow thruster frequency converters, drive control and power management systems. Five different modes of operation for the shaft alternator were also provided which enable fuel-saving power generation in combination with a smart and flexible supply of the bow thrusters during challenging maneuvering situations.

After completing installation and testing at the Chinese shipyard Nanjing Jinling, AKA’s team is now on site in Germany working on the final steps of the project.
